That doesn’t mean that you can’t record clips longer than five minutes on the Xbox One, though. There was a method that enabled players to somehow glitch the Xbox One DVR into recording for longer with the Snap function, however, this is no longer available. Of course, because the hard drives on our systems aren’t huge, and video files can take up a lot of space, Microsoft actually imposed a five minute limit to the amount of time you can record using the Xbox One DVR. This enables players to record chunks of their gameplay retrospectively, as well as live. The Xbox One and PS4 both brought a DVR feature to the table when they released back in 2013.
